Identity Crisis

My name is Sue Cadieux but WHO am I?

I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, co-worker, occupational therapist, friend, P31 OBS group leader, Special Touch Ministry supporter/caregiver and I am probably missing a few other things.  Now, think about WHO you are.  These are roles or titles we all assume, but does this cause us to have an identity crisis? Do you ever doubt your identity?

With all these roles to fill, do you ever feel like you’re not good enough? Do you ever feel like the circumstances that you are in make you a failure?

I answered yes to all 3 of these questions and could probably easily write another 2-3 pages of all my insecurities and doubts.

We are human and as women, I think most of us doubt ourselves, feel insecure and forget what our true identity is from time to time. It’s natural.  However, we cannot and should not dwell on our imperfections and these feelings of self-doubt of who we are. We need to remember God’s promises!

Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NLT)

Genesis 1:27 tells us: “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God, he created them; male and female he created them.” (NLT)

Ladies, this is powerful! Not only did God know who were going to be before we were even born, but He created us in His image! He created you just the way you are, short/tall, blue eyes/brown eyes, thin/chubby, extrovert/introvert etc.

1 John 3:1 tells us: “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” (NLT)

Psalm 139:14 says: “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.” (NLT)

Remember God understands that we can’t be perfect in everything we set out to do. We need to continue to rely on Him for strength, guidance and support when we find ourselves struggling in one of the roles that we are trying to fulfill.

We need to stay in the word to remind ourselves of the truth of God’s words and His promises for us. It will remind us of His unconditional love for us and that nothing can separate us from His love.

The only identity we need to rely on and remember ladies is that we are His daughters, children of God! Our Abba Father created us to be like him as he really is and God does NOT I repeat does NOT create anyone to be unimportant, worthless, or insignificant. If we doubt who we are, then we are doubting the God who made us and letting Satan win the fight! Don’t let the enemy steal your identity anymore!

You are His masterpiece! Believe it and don’t forget it!
